The Behavioral Science. God is Light and His Saints are light

The Behavioral Science of man is in need to embrace of the therapy of the /heart/soul that was begotten the day of Pentecost by the Holy Spirit 2000 years ago. The word Salvation does not mean “going to a good place”, it is a description of a  ~a Part Take with God~ beginning at Baptism that signifies the beginning of a potential dynamic process in one’s path toward the Kingdom of God the return to His presence!

[Luke 17:21 “No one will say, “Look here it is”! Or, “There it is!” because the Kingdom of God is within you”.

[1 Corinthians 3:16]  “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God”?

The mortal bodies that men and women have today are the bodies that were given to Adam and Eve in order to overcome their material needs in their new home after being exiled! Their heavenly angelic bodies (created from light) were not “destroyed” they were merely “covered up” with the materialistic bodies that we all have. [Genesis 3.21]  “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them”. The moment of death (death of the body) finds Adam and Eve in Hades (a holding place till His Second Coming). Adam and Eve know exactly who they are, they are aware of all of their actions both in Paradise and on Earth and they become the first ones waiting for the descent of Lord Jesus (God Logos) who they already knew from Paradise.  This eternal identity of theirs (their angelic bodies underneath the leather tunics) is known as the heart, it it is of an eternal nature and it belongs to each and every person who is ever born.

There is going to be a Kingdom at his Second Coming and each and everyone is going to “soweth, that shall he also reap”! Pay special attention to how the words “flesh” and “spirit” are placed in this following verse!

[Galadians 6: 7-8]  “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting”.

So Adams and Eves bodies (their leather tunics) were going to be the “vehicle” that was going to allow them a life (a trial) in the absence from God Creator and at the same time the means by which they could show that they have had repented!  This is why the “heart” is known to be a person in Orthodox Theology and this is why this person/heart and the mind is considered to be ONE AND THE SAME THING! [1 Peter 3:4] “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”

If it wasn’t for the Heart being a person they would be NOTHING to represent man (everything that he ever was) after death and after the body was dissolved in the ground! There cannot be a behavioral science without the therapy of the eternal person that is known as the heart!

Behavioral science

Mental health overlooks the presence of the soul/heart in a person and treats man as though he is -mind alone-  and not -mind and soul- both. The heart/person is ill-begotten and in need of a therapy. [Matthew 15-19] “FOR OUT OF THE HEART PROCEED EVIL THOUGHTS MURDERS ADULTERIES FORNICATIONS THEFTS FALSE WITNESS BLASPHEMIES” Furthermore vainglory, ego, envy, hatred, lustiness stinginess, and greed are equally strong passions that siege the heart (self-will) and force the mind (body) in the unnatural act of sin. The reaction of a healthy mind to an ill-begotten heart is a chemical unbalance known as a psychiatric illness. The medicine of Psychiatry will help stop the symptoms but it will not cure the ill-begotten heart ( the passions that make it ill) that causes the symptoms! An aspirin with stop the pain or  the headake (the symptoms),  but it will not cure what caused it, (the illness)

To Cure Man

Hierotheos Metropolitan of Nafpaktos: When we are speaking of “curing man” in essence this means the purification of his mind, his heart, which is the overall likeness of man (Nous, Logos Spirit)  his return to the “ancient beauty” that he was created to be  (and some more) and his communion with God. Those cured are His Saints!

[Mathew5:8] “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God”

God is Light and His Saints are light!                                                                                        Elder Sophrony of Essex – Image and likeness of God
