A person…is the heart!
To know thee, is to know Him PERSONALLY
[John 17.3] And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
1 “To know Lord Jesus philosophically is to have a love relationship with an idea “philosophy” and not Lord Himself who appears to his Saints in His Divine Light as a PERSON”!
2 “The TRUTH begotten as the Supreme Personal Truth is a PERSON (GOD), and as a PERSON they who truly love Him they shall know Him”.
Beloved fellow Christian brothers and sisters,
The Christians of the first Christian Church became Saints, following a certain Life of Worship that was specific that was passed down by the Apostles in the beginning of Christianity. A lot of Christians today will never seek to know the true nature of Sainthood, because they think that it is something that cannot be clearly defined something unknown belonging in the past. The truth is that by discovering “Sainthood” the True nature of Holy men and women, Christians of all nations WILL ALSO DISCOVER, THE ONLY REAL PURPOSE OF LIFE ON EARTH. This is because Sainthood is not a description of being good “goodness” or “the privilege” to live in a “good place”, but it is an acknowledgment of the UNION (Part Take) of man with God! This mystical union with God been verified in the Orthodox Church through out the centuries, by the method of the Removal of Relics, that’s done for the purpose of visually establishing an actual -physical ontological transformation on remains that only takes place if the Holy Spirit was present with in the Saints body (heart) while alive.
Holy Relics in Orthodox Church http://easternorthodoxspirituality.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-place-of-holy-relics-in-orthodox.html
The only proud claim of the Orthodox Church created by the Apostles throughout her 2000 year history is that “they have kept everything delivered by the Holy Spirit the day of Pentecost for the Salvation of man UNCHANGED”.
It is a matter of the heart
The main reason of holding Divine Liturgy from the very begging of the creation of the Church (remember the catacombs) was to perform the Mystery (Holy Sacrament) of Holy Communion. During this Mystery the “gifts” that the Christians bring which are the bread and the wine, transform mysteriously into the Blood and the Flesh of Lord Jesus. Holy Communion is described in [John 6, 54] to be the most essential precondition for Eternal life. “Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on that last day”.
It is well known by those who study and know Orthodox Christianity that God has allowed many of His priests that were worthy, to see the Body (flesh) and the Blood of Lord Jesus in the Holy Chalice through out the history of the Church. There are Saints that have told us that during this Mystery (Holy Sacrament) of Holy Communion Lord Jesus was seen in the Holy chalice surrounded by Divine Light and that He is taken down entirely during the consumption of Holy Communion! Holy Communion is also described or known by the Holy Fathers as the “Medicine of Immortality” for it is with the aid of the ~Body and Blood~ of Christ that Christians arrive slowly-slowly to the “supernatural state”, or the “likeness of God” known as Holiness or Sainthood. (Of course this happens only if someone’s daily life is accompanied with “pleasing to God” deeds). This supernatural state (Holiness) is begotten when God makes man His own Temple thus enabling man to knowing God personally a condition also known as ETERNAL LIFE. [John 17.3] “And this is LIFE ETERNAL that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”. So to “know thee the only True God Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent” means to know Him Personally and not philosophically as Christians know Him by the reading of the Holy Bible alone. Wasn’t this the whole purpose of His incarnation and Sacrifice to enable men and women BACK to His Presence? Isn’t this Salvation?
The Orthodox Church teaches that the words ~Eternal Life~ does not describe a place, but a way of being, it a description of a union with God an ontological condition never seen on earth or heaven before a description of a new creation!
[Colossians 3 10] “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him”:
It is a description of a part take (part man -part god) that is known to the Church as being Holy, New Adam, the overcoming of mortality, Salvation and being a god by the Grace of God!
[Corinthians 6:19] “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God”?
The reading of the Word of God and the practice of Christian life alone can cure the mind of man up to a certain extent (better behaviour), however it cannot provide the necessary purity needed for the ill begotten heart that is of a heavenly nature and in need of a heavenly therapy.
(Matthew 15:19) “For from his heart come the evil ideas which lead him to kill, commit adultery, and do other immoral things; to rob, lie, and slander and others.”
The Holy Fathers teach that the heart, which is the centre of the soul (and our psychosomatic self) reflects the condition of the eternal self (the person) the one that leaves the body at the moment of death. [1 Peter 3:4 “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”
The ill begotten heart needs healing because it is through the heart that man can only sanctify God. [1 Peter 3:15] “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: This is why the first precondition to SEE God (to know Him personally) is the purification of our hearts.
[Matthew 5-8] “BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART- FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD”.
The purification then of the heart will then enable man to the presence of God in the heart! [2 Corinthians: 4:6] “God makes His Light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God’s glory shining in the face of Christ”. In other words if our hearts are not purified through the Holy Sacraments of the Church with the type therapy prescribed by the Holy Spirit 2000 years ago where Lord Jesus is present as High Priest [Hebrews 5:5] and Mediator to His Father, God will not be able ~to shine His Light in our Hearts~ in order to bring us the knowledge of His Glory (His presence) not now, not for all times to come!
This is the reason why the Orthodox monks pray concentrating their mind not upward, but inward and downward toward their Hearts where they hope to witness to the Glory of God’s kingdom! (Luke 17:21) No one will say, “Look here it is”! Or, “There it is!” because the Kingdom of God is within you”.
The Holy Bible was written and delivered to humanity as an Ecclesiastic book and not a philosophical one. The most importance role of the Holy Bible besides being a true reference of the life and the deeds of our Lord it comes to teach each and every one the divine morality needed to be king along with Lord Jesus in His Heavenly kingdom. [Luke 22:29-30] 29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Taking a very small example from His parable of the Good Samaritan we need to acquire his type gracious and philanthropist morality and make it our own from this her life! The Good Samaritan who is a stranger to this person in need does not only show mercy but also shows compassion.
[Luke 10:36-37] “Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
The divine morality found in all of the books of the Old and New Testament applied in all aspects of our lives, will attract the Grace of God and give Him the opportunity through His Holy Sacraments as High priest to REMAKE each and every one according to their personal obedience and deeds to a god man by His Grace a condition described as Salvation and Eternal Life.
